Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the application of continuous quality improvement (CQI) in the hand hygiene management in hospital and improve the hand hygiene compliance of clinical medical staff.
METHODS In May 2012, hand hygiene management of CQI groups were established, problems of hand hygiene management were evaluated, and their causes were analyzed. The continuous improvement measures were developed, including improvement of the evaluation system and hand hygiene facilities, strengthening the education of medical personnel training and supervision inspection, and paying attention to the effect evaluation. The results were statistically analyzed.
RESULTS After a year of continuous improvement, the implementation rate of medical staff hand hygiene had larger ascension. Before the CQI (June 2012), 563 hand hygiene timing were observed, with the implementation rate of hand hygiene of 28.60%. After the CQI (June 2013), 622 hand hygiene timing were observed, with the implementation rate of hand hygiene of 52.57%, the difference before and after the CQI was significant (
P<0.05).
CONCLUSION Application of CQI method in the management of hand hygiene can effectively improve the compliance of hand hygiene of medical staff.
