Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the application values of quality control circle on the hand hygiene of the family members of elderly patients with severe invasive fungal infection in ICU, so as to provide reliable reference for the management of hand hygiene of the family members of the patients with fungal infection.
METHODS A total of 70 family members of elderly patients with severe invasive fungal infection in ICU of our hospital from Feb. 2013 to Oct. 2015 were selected as the research objects, which were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 35 cases in each group. The family members in the observation group were implemented the quality control circle to carry on the intervention for hand hygiene intervention, who in the control group were implemented the conventional education management measures for hand hygiene intervention. The hand hygiene situation of family members was compared in two groups and SPSS 19.0 was used for statistic analysis.
RESULTS The poor awareness of hand washing of family members in observation group was 2.86%, which was significantly better than that of the control group 34.29%. The importance of hand washing, the methods of hand washing and the indications of hand washing in the observation group were significantly better than those in control group. The hand hygiene compliance rate before contacting patients, after contacting patient and after contacting the environment of family members in observation group was significantly better than that in control group (
P<0.05).
CONCLUSION The application of quality control circle to manage the family members of elderly patients with severe invasive fungal infection in ICU can significantly improve the health awareness, the implementation rate and compliance rate of family members, which has important clinical application value.
