Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the status of writing and publication of papers by the infection control staff in Chaoyang district and find out the problems and difficulties so as to put forward effective coping measures and improve the staff's ability of writing the papers.
METHODS In Sep, 2014, the questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the general data of 161 infection control staff, difficulties and help in writing and publishing the papers.
RESULTS A total of 161 full-time, part-time infection control staff were investigated, of whom 85.71% were engaged in the control of nosocomial infections, 64.60% had college, secondary education degree, 93.16% had junior, intermediate titles, and 90.06% majored in nursing. The results of the survey indicated that 55.27% of the infection control staff had great stress on the publication of papers, of whom 20.50% were in the grade A hospital, and 25.46% were in the community hospital. 44.73% of the infection control staff had little stress, of whom 24.22% were in the grade A hospital, and 18.01% were in the community hospital. Of the 10 difficulties investigated, the major difficulties included the determination of theme, information retrieval, design of project, statistical analysis of data, and writing ability. Among the grass-roots hospital investigated, 95.03% came from the institutions where the publication of papers was not required; it was necessary to help the full-time, part-time staff in determination of theme, modification of paper, guidance of publication, and statistical analysis.
CONCLUSION The paper writing ability of the infection control staff of the grass-roots hospitals is urgently needed to improve; it is necessary to strengthen the training, cultivate the ability of scientific research and paper writing, establish the incentive mechanism, and raise the enthusiasm of paper writing.
