Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To discuss the association between
Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and Behcet's disease,and to identify whether Hp is a risk factor for Behcet's disease.
METHODS A systematic literature search of PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane library was conducted, which were included into the research of HP and Behcet's disease. Revman 5.2 was used for the Meta-analysis for empirical data from literature. A fixed or random effects model were used for calculating the odds ratio (
OR) and a 95% credibility interval (95%
CI), at the same time sensitivity analysis, subgroup analysis and Meta-regression analysis were taken to evaluate the sources of heterogeneity.Begg's Test and Egger's Test were used to evaluate publication bias.
RESULTS Seven case-control studies published between 1999 to 2014 were finally identified, involving 1155 patients, with a total Hp infection rate of 44.16%. The prevalence of Hp infection was greater in Behcet's disease patients than in controls (56.72% vs 35.35%,
OR=1.36, 95%
CI: 1.01-1.84,
P=0.04).
CONCLUSION The pooled data suggest a trend of more frequent Hp infections in patients with Behcet's disease than healthy people.
