Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the effects of nursing interventions on prevention of postoperative urinary tract infections in cervical cancer patients so as to reduce the incidence of the urinary tract infections.
METHODS The clinical data were collected from 220 cervical cancer patients who underwent the hysterectomy in hospitals from Oct 2014 to Oct 2015, and the enrolled patients were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 110 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional nursing, while the experimental group was given the nursing interventions, and the nursing effects were observed and compared between the two groups.
RESULTS The infection rate of the experimental group was 8.18%, significantly lower than 32.73% of the control group (
P<0.05). The duration of vaginal secretions, residual urine volume, and time of urinary catheter indwelling were significantly shorter in the experimental group than in the control group (
P<0.05). The incidence of complications was 4.55% in the experimental group, 17.27% in the control group, and there was significant difference between the two groups (
P<0.05).
CONCLUSION The implementation of the nursing interventions can achieve satisfied effects on prevention of the urinary tract infections in the cervical cancer patients undergoing hysterectomy, reduce the incidence of the postoperative urinary tract infections, shorten the duration of vaginal secretions, and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, it is worthy to be promoted.
