Abstract: OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of nursing students' practice in central sterile supply departments of three-A teaching hospitals in Beijing so as to provide guidance for teaching of the nursing students. METHODS The self-designed questionnaires were adopted to investigate the situation of practice of nursing students who took internship in central sterile supply departments of 23 three-A teaching hospitals in Aug, 2015. RESULTS The majority of nursing colleges did not arrange the clinical practice in the central sterile supply departments for the nursing students mainly because that most of the clinical nursing practice outlines did not require the practice in central sterile supply departments, the traditional nursing materials were behind the times, and the graduates were not directly assigned to the central sterile supply departments. CONCLUSION The clinical teaching of nursing students in the central sterile supply department is useful for developing the professional knowledge and the concept of sterile supply.It is suggested that the theoretical knowledge of disinfection and supply should be closely connected with the clinical nursing during the clinical teaching, the contents of the clinical practice should include the standard, systematic knowledge of nosocomial infections and occupational protection, and the clinical teaching should involve the related knowledge of storage, application, and tracking of the sterile supplies as well as the knowledge of cleaning, checking, and packing of surgical instruments.
