Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the infection-control risks of the decontamination area of central sterile supply department (CSSD), and puts forward effective prevention measures and countermeasures.
METHODS Through the internal self-checking of CSSD, and supervision and inspection of courtyard department and nursing department from 2013 to 2015, the infection-control risks of the decontamination area were found out, and relevant rectification measures were put forward. The main measures were to strengthen management, improve defective processes, define requirements for quality of work, conduct related knowledge training in each department, and strengthen environmental hygiene monitoring, etc.
RESULTS Through to the special rectification, those risks had been effectively controlled. From 2013 to 2015, the failure rate reduced from 24.4% to 3.0% for the head nurse's daily check, while the failure rate reduced from 26.8% to 4.5% according to the on-the-job group leader's daily quality-control check.
CONCLUSION The infection-control work of decontamination area plays an important role in the CSSD's working chain, because it involves each link of every operation. We must strengthen the examination and management, find out defects in advance and effectively control it, so as to prevent the occurrence of hospital infection.
