Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To analyze the plasma endotoxin and bacterial species in patients with bacteremia, so as to provide scientific basis for the clinical diagnosis of bacterial species and treatment.
METHODS Totally 97 bacteremia patients were recruited in the study from Jan. 2015 to Apr. 2016 and divided into five groups according to endotoxin and blood culture results: (G
-+ET
+) group,(G
-+ET
-) group,(G
-) group,(ET
+) group and bacteremia group. The distribution and different plasma endotoxin levels of various species among the five groups were compared. The data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 software.
RESULTS The distributions of
Enterobacter and non-
Enterobacter were different between (G
-+ET
-) group and (ET
+) group (P=0.044), (G
-+ET
-) group and bacteremia group (P=0.000), and (G
-) group and bacteremia group (
P=0.000), respectively. WBC of bacteremia group and (G
-) group were increased with the increase of endotoxin level.
CONCLUSION Application of limulus test quantitative turbidimetric assay of endotoxin helps to determine the bacterial species of patients with early bacteremia, endotoxemia, and gram-negative bacteremia.
