Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control in China, so as to provide scientific basis for continuous improvement.
METHODS Using internet-based questionnaire, the management, staff and operation of 31 provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control in China were investigated, and 1636 different levels of hospitals were surveyed to evaluate the work of provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control.
RESULTS Up to February 1st, 2016, there were 31 provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control in China except Tibet. Eliminating incomplete data of Shanxi and Qinghai provinces, 29 provincial centers had a total of 443 staff, including 125 full-time staff and 318 part-time staff, accounting for 28.22% and 71.78%. There were 1359 hospitals in the statistics after eliminating incomplete data. Totally 1143 hospitals(84.10%) knew the provincial centers' work well, in which 90.46% hospitals gave the score at least 4 points(out of 5).
CONCLUSION Provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control has made a lot of work to improve the level of prevention and control of nosocomial infections in China, and it is an irreplaceable role of provincial centers of nosocomial infections quality management and control in China. As there are still some problems such as lack of full-time staff and government funding, it is necessary to define the position of provincial centers, clear the scope of work, give full play to the function of centers at all levels and strengthen informationized surveillance of nosocomial infections.
