Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To screen the prevalence of genital tract
Streptococcus agalactiae infection in non-pregnant women in Yiwu area and observe the drug resistance so as to provide guidance for clinical treatment.
METHODS A total of 4 900 non-pregnant women who were treated in hospitals from Feb 2015 to May 2016 were recruited as the study objects, then the genital tract specimens were collected from the study objects for culture of
S.agalactiae, the drug susceptibility testing was performed, the prevalence of genital tract
Streptococcus agalactiae infection in non-pregnant women in Yiwu area was screened, and the drug resistance was observed.
RESULTS Of the 4 9000 non-pregnant women, 268 had
S.agalactiae infection, with the infection rate 5.5%; the isolation rate of
S.agalactiae was the highest in the non-pregnant women aged between 31 and 40 years old and was significantly higher than that in the non-pregnant women of other age groups(
P<0.05).The result of analysis of drug resistance of the positive specimens showed that the
S.agalactiae strains were highly resistant to tetracycline, erythromycin, and clindamycin, however, the strains were not resistant to ceftriaxone and vancomycin, moreover, the drug resistance rate of the
S.agalactiae strains to ceftazidime, cefotaxime, penicillin G, and ampicillin was less than 2.0%.
CONCLUSIONThe incidence rate of genital tract
S.agalactiae infection is high in the non-pregnant women in Yiwu area, and the isolation rate of the
S.agalactiae strains is the highest in the non-pregnant women aged between 31 and 41 years old.It is necessary for the hospital to reasonably use antibiotics based on the result of the drug susceptibility testing.
