Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To understand the prevalence of nosocomial infections and status of use of antibiotics so as to provide scientific basis for prevention of nosocomial infections and improvement of management of nosocomial infections.
METHODS By means of bedside investigation combined with medical records survey, the prevalence rates of nosocomial infections from 0∶00 to 24∶00 on Oct 15, 2013, Oct 16, 2014, and Nov 4, 2015 were investigated, and all of the data were statistically analyzed by using SPSS13.0 software.
RESULTS Totally 923, 997, and 1 014 hospitalized patients were investigated in the 3 consecutive years respectively; the prevalence rates of nosocomial infections were 3.3%, 2.9%, and 2.6%, respectively. The middle-age and elderly people were the major population with the nosocomial infections. The respiratory system was dominant among the infection sites, especially the lower respiratory tract; the constituent ratios of the patients with lower respiratory tract infections were respectively 56.7%, 65.5%, and 57.7% in the three consecutive years. The utilization rate of antibiotics was controlled under 40.0%, however, the submission rate of specimens was very low.
CONCLUSIONThe prevalence rate of nosocomial infections is lower in the hospital than in the three-A hospitals in China, the use of antibiotics has met certain standards, however, the submission rate of specimens remains low.
