Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To study and analyze the effects of aripiprazole combined with sodium valproate on the modified Overt Aggression Scales (MOAS) and Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) scores in patients with schizophrenia complicated with syphilis infection.
METHODS Forty patients with schizophrenia complicated with syphilis infection enrolled in our hospital from Mar. 2011 to Mar. 2014 were divided into combined group (
n=20) and control group (
n=20). The patients in the control group were treated with aripiprazole and ceftriaxone sodiuma, and patients in the combined group were treated with aripiprazole, sodium valproate combined with ceftriaxone sodium. The clinical curative effect was evaluated by MOAS score, PANSS score, clinical treatment efficiency, rapid plasma reactivity test (RPR) negative rate, recurrence rate and other indicators.
RESULTS After 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks of treatment, the positive symptom score, negative symptom score and general psychopathology score of the combined group were significantly lower than those of the control group (
P<0.05). The MOAS of the combined group after 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks of treatment were (5.33±1.89) points, (3.90±1.35) points and (2.12±1.02) points, which were significantly lower than those of the control group (
P<0.05). The number of patients with cured and effective effects in the combined group was more than that in the control group, but there was no significant difference in clinical treatment between the two groups. The differences of RPR negative rate and recurrence rate between the two groups were not significant.
CONCLUSION Using aripiprazole combined with sodium valproate for the treatment of schizophrenia with syphilis infection, is conducive to reducing MOAS and PANSS scores, and improving the clinical symptoms of patients, which has a certain clinical significance.
