Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the general information, misdiagnosis and treatment outcomes of patients with staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) caused by Staphylococcus aureus infection. METHODS The clinical data of 80 children with SSSS admitted from Oct. 2014 to Oct. 2017 were analyzed. The age distribution, seasonal distribution, misdiagnosis and treatment outcome of the patients were analyzed. RESULTS The 80 cases of children were mainly concentrated in early childhood (1~3 years old), with 32 cases accounting for 40.00%, followed by preschool (3~6 years old), with 24 cases accounting for 30.00%. The onset time was mainly autumn, with 30 cases accounting for 37.50%, followed by summer, with 20 cases accounting for 25.00%. 76 cases were misdiagnosed as other diseases, mainly misdiagnosed as skin eczema-like allergic diseases, with 20 cases accounting for 26.32%. The average hospital stay time of all children was (8.9±1.8) d, the average time to recover to normal temperature was (1.8±0.9) d, and the mean duration of Nie's sign was (3.9±1.7) d. Two patients developed sepsis and 4 patients had myocardial damage, which were improved after treatment. CONCLUSION The age of SSSS onset is concentrated in infants and preschools. It often occurs in the fall and is easily misdiagnosed in primary hospitals. The examination results are not good. It should be treated with sufficient sensitive antibiotics at an early stage.
