Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of contamination of dialysis water and dialysates with endotoxin (ET) in Gandu province and analyze the related influencing factors.
METHODS A total of 102 hospitals of Gansu province were recruited as the study objects, the results of detection of ET in the dialysis water and dialysates that were submitted within 5 years were observed.
RESULTS Of totally 4859 dialysis water and dialysates specimens were submitted within the 5 years, the total qualified rate was 96.71%, the qualified rate of the dialysis water was 94.82%, and the qualified rate of the dialysates was 97.57%.The qualified rate of the dialysates was 96.44% in the secondary hospitals, 98.31% in the tertiary hospitals, and there was significant difference (
χ2= 11.768,
P=0.001). The qualified rates of ET in the dialysis water and dialysates showed upward trends in the secondary and tertiray hospitals in the 5 years (
P<0.05). The qualifed rates of dialysis water and dialysates were significantly higher in the first and fourth quarters than in the second and third quarters (
χ2= 12.876,
P<0.001). The distance of submissionof specimens within Gansu province may not influnece the content of ET in the dialysis water and dialysates.
CONCLUSION The contorl of ET in the dialysis water and dialysates achieve general satisfactory effect in hemodialysis centers in Gansu pronvice.The scale of the hospital and seasonal factor have certain impact on the level of endotoxin.
