Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the correlation between TCM syndromes and
Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and immune function in patients with gastric cancer.
METHODS A total of 124 patients with gastric cancer who were admitted to the Haikou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Feb. 2016 to Dec. 2019 were included in the study. According to dialectical criteria, they were divided into 6 syndromes. Liver-gastric discordance, phlegm-dampness stagnation and gastric collateral stasis-blocking were included in the real syndrome group, while stomach-heat yin-deficiency, qi-blood deficiency and spleen-stomach weakness were included in the deficiency syndrome group. The clinical data of patients were collected and Hp infection were detected. The proportions of T lymphocyte subsets, such as CD
3+, CD
4+, CD
8+ and CD
4+/CD
8+, were measured by flow cytometry. The correlation between TCM syndromes differentiation and Hp infection and immune function was analyzed.
RESULTS The proportions of phlegm-dampness stagnation, liver-gastric discordance, gastric collateral stasis-blocking, stomach-heat yin-deficiency, qi-blood deficiency and spleen-stomach weakness were 19.35%, 20.97%, 13.71%,11.29%,16.13% and 18.55%, respectively. Hp infection rate between the real syndrome group and deficiency syndrome group(58.21% vs 47.37%) was not significantly different(P>0.05). The proportion of CD
3+, CD
4+ T lymphocyte subsets and CD
4+/CD
8+ in the deficiency syndrome group were significantly lower than that in the real syndrome group(
P<0.05).
CONCLUSION TCM syndromes differentiation of gastric cancer is not related to Hp infection, but closely related to the immune function of patients.
