Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To observe the expressions of calcium binding protein S100A2 (S100A2), interferon-γ (IFN- γ) and chemotactic factor for eosinophil (Eotaxin-1) in the ulcerative colitis patients complicated with EB virus infection and analyze the significance.
METHODS A total of 116 patients with ulcerative colitis who were treated in Lishui City People′s Hospital from Mar 2020 to Mar 2023 were recruited as the research subjects and were divided into the no infection group with 51 cases and the infection group with 65 cases according to the status of EB virus infection. Meanwhile, 47 healthy volunteers who received physical examination in outpatient department were chosen as the control group. The values of S100A2, IFN-γ and Eotaxin-1 in prediction of EB virus infection of the ulcerative colitis patients were analyzed by means of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.
RESULTS The expression levels of S100A2, IFN-γ and Eotaxin-1 of the no infection group and the infection group were higher than those of the control group(P < 0.05), and the expression levels of the above indexes of the infection group were higher than those of the no infection group (P < 0.05). The expression levels of S100A2, IFN-γ and Eotaxin-1 were elevated with the aggravation of the infection (P < 0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under curve (AUC) of the joint detection of S100A2, IFN-γ and Eotaxin-1 was 0.878 in prediction of EB virus infection in the ulcerative colitis patients, with the diagnostic value high.
CONCLUSION The ulcerative colitis patients complicated with EB virus infection show the rise of expression levels of S100A2, IFN-γ and Eotaxin-1. The joint detection of the three indexes can be used for the prediction of EB virus infection in the patients with ulcerative colitis.
