Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status and risk factors for nosocomial infection in the hospitalized patients of cardiovascular surgery department of Chongqing People′s Hospital from 2018 to 2022.
METHODS The patients who were hospitalized in cardiovascular surgery department of Chongqing People′s Hospital from Jan 2018 to Dec 2022 were recruited as the research subjects. The baseline data were collected from the patients, the incidence of nosocomial infection, distribution of pathogens and risk factors were observed.
RESULTS Among 1 136 hospitalized patients of cardiovascular surgery department, 60 were diagnosed with postoperative nosocomial infection, 51.67% of whom had lower respiratory tract infection, 16.67% had surgical site infection. Totally 60 strains of pathogens were isolated from the 60 patients with infection, 29 (48.33%) of which were gram-negative bacteria, 28 (46.67%) were gram-positive bacteria, and 3 (5.00%) were fungi. The result of multivariate analysis showed that age, emergency surgery, ASA grade, mechanical ventilation, length of ICU stay and drainage tube indwelling time were the independent risk factors for the nosocomial infection in the hospitalized patients of cardiovascular surgery department (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION The patients with lower respiratory tract infection are dominant among the hospitalized patients with nosocomial infection in the cardiovascular surgery department. The postoperative infection is closely associated with the age, type of surgery, illness condition, mechanical ventilation, ICU stay and drainage tube indwelling time.
