Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the expression levels of baculoviral inhibitor of apoptosis protein repeat-containing protein 5 (BIRC5), soluble myeloid cell trigger receptor 1 (sTREM-1) and micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-506-3p in pleural effusion of the patients with tuberculous pleurisy and analyze the values in prediction of prognosis.
METHODS A total of 98 patients with tuberculous pleurisy who were treated in Baoding Second Central Hospital from Mar 2021 to Mar 2023 were assigned as the study group and were divided into the favorable prognosis group with 69 cases and the poor prognosis group with 29 cases according to the prognosis; meanwhile, 108 non-tuberculous pleurisy patients were chosen as the control group. The expression levels of pleural effusion BIRC5, sTREM-1 and miR-506-3p were detected for the patients. The values of BIRC5, sTREM-1 and miR-506-3p in prediction of prognosis of the patients with tuberculous pleurisy were analyzed by means of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.
RESULTS The levels of pleural effusion BIRC5 and sTREM-1 of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the miR-506-3p level of the study group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05). The levels of pleural effusion BIRC5 and sTREM-1 of the poor prognosis group were significantly higher than those of the favorable prognosis group, and the miR-506-3p of the poor prognosis group was significantly lower than that of the favorable prognosis group(P < 0.05). The area under curve (AUC) of the joint detection of BIRC5, sTREM-1 and miR-506-3p was significantly higher than that of the single detection(P < 0.05), the sensitivity of the joint detection was 86.21%, with the specificity 94.20%.
CONCLUSION The levels of pleural effusion BIRC5 and sTREM-1 of the patients with pleural effusion are elevated, while the miR-506-3p level is reduced. The tuberculous pleurisy patients with poor prognosis show the same trends. The joint detection of BIRC5, sTREM-1 and miR-506-3p has high value in prediction of the prognosis of the pleural effusion patients.
