Abstract:
All populations are generally susceptible to influenza virus. As compared with ordinary population, the health care workers are at higher risk of influenza, which may not only cause health burden and transmission in hospitals but also affect normal operation of medical system due to some factors such as absence from duty. Annual influenza vaccination is an effective way to prevent the influenza and can remarkably reduce the risk of prevalence of influenza and severe complications. The health care workers, as the priority population for influenza vaccination, can benefit a lot from the vaccination, which may also benefit patients and hospitals. In China, the vaccination rate of influenza vaccine is low among health care workers, they are less aware of the burden and harm of influenza and worry about the safety and effectiveness of influenza vaccine, and vaccination is not convenient; all the above factors lead to the health care workers′ hesitation for vaccination. The progress of related researches on burden of influenza and benefits from vaccination of influenza vaccine among the health care workers were summarized in the article, and expectations were put forward so as to improve the current status of vaccination of influenza vaccine among the health care workers.
