Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of terminal cleaning and disinfection of bed units in the medical institutions of Hangzhou so as to provide bases for formulating standardized operation procedures of terminal disinfection of bed units and further improve the quality of terminal disinfection.
METHODS A questionnaire survey was conducted for the status of execution of terminal cleaning and disinfection, monitoring of disinfection effect of bed units, use of ozone disinfection machine, disinfection personnel and training in 62 medical institutions of Hangzhou from Jul. 2023 to Aug. 2023.
RESULTS Among the 62 medical institutions in the survey, there was significant difference in the disinfection approach of object surfaces of bed units among the hospitals of different nature or grades(P < 0.05). Some of non-public hospitals or first-class/ungraded hospitals only adopted ready-to-use chlorine-containing disinfectants for wiping disinfection, 70.97% of the medical institutions adopted the ozone disinfection machine for terminal disinfection of the bed units, indicating that the utilization rate of the ozone disinfection machine was high. As for the disinfection of mattresses, pillow inners and quilt inners, the public hospitals or secondary, tertiary hospitals tended to use the ozone disinfection machine, the non-public hospitals or the first-class/ungraded hospitals used ultraviolet radiator more frequently. However, in terms of monitoring of samples, the medical institutions that sampled from the mattresses accounted for 41.94%, the medical institutions that sampled from the pillows accounted for 35.48%. The training and protection of the disinfection personnel was relatively standardized.
CONCLUSION The terminal cleaning and disinfection of bed units is relatively standardized in the medical institutions of Hangzhou, the utilization rate of ozone disinfection machine is high, and it is necessary to solve the various problems during the process of use of the machine and strengthen the monitoring of disinfection effect of the bed units.
