Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing measures on the elderly tumor patients with totally implantable central venous access port (TIVAP)-associated infection.
METHODS Totally 300 elderly tumor patients (aged no less than 60 years old) who received intravenous infusion with TIVAP in Hainan Hospital of Chinese PLA General Hospital from Mar. 2020 to Mar. 2023 were enrolled in the study, the pathological data were collected from the patients and retrospectively analyzed. The enrolled patients were divided into the control group with 158 cases and the study group with 142 cases according to the nursing method. The control group was given conventional nursing, while the study group was given additional comprehensive anti-infection nursing, including rigid aseptic operation, early intervention, comprehensive psychological support, multidisciplinary coordination and individualized nursing, on basis of the nursing of the control group. The infection rate, life quality score, complications, cancer fatigue score (CFS) and satisfaction were observed and compared between the two groups.
RESULTS The incidence of infections of the study group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05); the incidence of complications of the study group was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the CFS between the two groups before the intervention; while the CFS of the study group was lower than that of the control group after the intervention was completed for 7 days(P < 0.05). The total satisfaction rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS The comprehensive anti-infection nursing measures, achieve remarkable nursing effect on the elderly tumor patients with TIVAP-related infections, effectively reduce the risk of infections and incidence of complications, and improve the quality of life and degree of tumor-induced fatigue, the satisfaction with nursing high. It is worthy to be promoted in the hospital so as to offer better nursing measures for more and more patients.
