Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To search, extract and integrate the optimum evidence for the cleaning quality management of dental handpieces and provide references for clinical practice.
METHODS Relevant evidence on dental handpieces cleaning was systematically retrieved from websites for guidelines, professional websites and databases at home and abroad including guidelines, expert consensus, systematic review, standard specifications, etc. The search time interval was limited from the setup time for the database to Jun. 2024. Four researchers evaluated the quality, extracted the evidence and integrate the literature included.
RESULTS A total of 9 articles (4 guidelines, 3 industry standards and 2 systematic reviews) were included; and 29 pieces of best evidence were collected, which covered 7 aspects: management requirements, personnel requirements, operation requirements, on-site pretreatment, recycling and transfer, cleaning and cleaning quality evaluation.
CONCLUSION The optimum evidence summarized for cleaning quality management of dental handpieces in this study is scientific and comprehensive, which can provide an evidence-based basis for standardizing the dental handpiece cleaning process.
