Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To retrieve, evaluate and synthesize the best available evidence for drug administration compliance of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in adult patients with HIV/AIDS so as to provide reference for clinical decision-making.
METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted on the management of compliance to ART among HIV/AIDS patients. The search scope encompassed high-quality evidence repositories such as domestic and international guideline databases, official websites of professional associations, Chinese and English literature databases, clinical practice guidelines and treatment manuals, evidence syntheses, systematic reviews, expert consensus statements, and clinical decisions and best practice recommendations. Literature quality assessment, content extraction and synthesis were completed by the joint efforts of 4 researchers. The search timeframe was set from the inception date of each database to December 2024.
RESULTS A total of 18 literatures, including 6 guidelines, 5 systematic reviews, 2 meta-analyses, 3 expert consensus, 1 evidence summary and 1 treatment manual, were collected. Totally 27 pieces of best evidence embracing 6 core themes: comprehensive assessment before treatment, individualized health education, treatment scheme optimization, compliance evaluation and monitoring, compliance support intervention, multidisciplinary follow-up and social support, were summarized.
CONCLUSION The core evidence for compliance management of ART of the adult HIV/AIDS patients is summarized in the study, which may provide the clinicians with scientific evidence-based assessment of patients' compliance so as to carry out individualized interventions.
