Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV), Treponema pallidum (TP) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections among the residents more than 60 years of age so as to provide scientific bases for precise control and prevention of infectious disease among the population.
METHODS The residents more than 60 years of age who came from 4 communities of 2 counties (cities) of Zhengzhou were chosen as the sample sources by multi-stage sampling method in 2024. The results of serological tests for HCV, TP and HIV antibodies were analyzed.
RESULTS Totally 12 064 residents no less than 60 years of age who came from the 4 communities accepted the tests in 2024. The positive rates of HCV, TP and HIV antibodies screening tests were 1.31%, 1.26% and 0.07%, respectively; the positive rate of HCV antibody of the female was higher than that of the male(
χ2=4.519,
P=0.034);there was significant difference in the positive rate of TP antibody among the age groups(
χ2=6.395,
P=0.041). The people who were positive for HIV antibody were all urban residents. The result of reexamination showed that the positive rate of HCV nucleic acid was 0.27%(32/12 064), the standardized positive rate of TP non-specific antibodies was 0.14%(17/12 064), and the positive rate of confirmed test for HIV antibody was 0.04%(5/12 064).
CONCLUSION It is necessary to attach great importance to the health of the elderly population and strengthen the control and prevention of the diseases such as hepatitis C, syphilis and AIDS against the backdrop of an accelerating aging population in China.
