Abstract:
With the evolution of landscapes of global infectious diseases, the high prevalence of multidrug-resistant organisms, and the increasingly complex challenges in infection prevention and control, the traditional health care-associated infections (HAIs) prevention and control models can no longer meet emerging demands. The idea of "Comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control" has thus emerged, focusing on the expansion of infection control from localized management to systemic management. It integrates the entire chain of "diagnosis- treatment-prevention" to enhance the overall resilience and emergency response capabilities of hospitals. This article aligns with international development trends and domestic practical experiences, systematically elaborating on the core essence and implementation pathways of the "Comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control" strategy from the perspectives such as broadening the scope of infection control, leveraging technology-enabled applications, building a professional workforce, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration mechanisms, and sustaining cultural development. The supporting roles of emerging technologies like molecular diagnostics, artificial intelligence, and bacteriophages in the precise prevention and control were discussed in the article, it advocates the establishment of a cross-institutional, cross-departmental, and cross-hierarchical collaborative "Infection Prevention and Control Community. " A modern infection prevention and control system featuring the strategic vision, integration, and sustainability can be constructed by focusing on conceptual updates, institutional guarantee, capacity rebuilding, and synergistic mechanisms so as to meet the high-quality development of HAIs prevention and control.
