Abstract:
Hypervirulent
Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKP) often causes bloodstream infections (BSI), which subsequently lead to multi-organ or multi-site infections. This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of two patients with multi-site hvKP infections (non-BSI) diagnosed and treated at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, and their clinical characteristics, treatment and outcomes were summarized. The findings suggest that for patients with typical high-risk clinical features (community-acquired, multi-site abscesses/infections), proactive efforts should be made to obtain microbiological evidence from infection sites even if blood cultures are negative. If abscesses are present, timely puncture and drainage combined with antimicrobial therapy can improve cure rates.
