Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of ventilation of endoscopy centers of the medical institutions in Anhui Province and find out the existing problems so as to provide bases for standardized management of the ventilation system.
METHODS The questionnaire was designed based on the endoscopy- related guidelines and standards currently in effect. A cross-sectional survey was conducted for the ventilation modes and configuration of ventilation systems in the endoscopy centers of medical institutions in Anhui Province by using Wenjuanxing platform.
RESULTS A total of 72 medical institutions were surveyed, of which 55.56% were equipped with ventilation equipment, 90.28% had regular ventilation and air exchange, and the natural ventilation was the major mode in the cleaning and disinfection rooms and the diagnosis and treatment rooms, accounting for 80.56% and 81.94% respectively. The installation rates of protective nets, filters, and insect media devices for the centralized air conditioning and ventilation systems were 47.22%, 38.89%, and 19.44%, respectively. The installation rates of protective nets, filters, and air purifiers for the fresh air system were 31.94%, 33.33%, and 25%, respectively. 63.89% of the medical institutions regularly cleaned ventilation equipment, 50% regularly disinfected ventilation equipment. 76.39% of the medical institutions had the medical staff receive ventilation knowledge training before the employment, and 75% of the medical institutions had the medical staff receive training after the employment. 63.89% of the medical institutions were equipped with professional personnel for ventilation equipment maintenance and management, 47.22% had professional maintenance and management records, and the frequency of replacing protective nets and filters was mainly once every six months (25%).
CONCLUSIONS There is certain difference in the ventilation management among the endoscopy centers of some medical institutions in Anhui Province. It is recommended to configure ventilation equipment reasonably, provide systematic training on ventilation related knowledge and standardize daily operation management and maintenance monitoring so as to promote standardized management of ventilation systems.
