Abstract: Safe injection is a core component of standard precautions and a fundamental measure for prevention and control of health care-associated infections (HAIs) and occupational safety assurance of health care workers. In August, 2025, National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China officially issued the health industry standard "Standards for Safe Injection" WS/T 856-2025) (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard"). This article provides a systematic interpretation of the Standard from the perspectives of its drafting background, bases of compilation, and core content, aiming to enhance the awareness of safe injection among the hospital administrators and healthcare workers, facilitate the accurate understanding and standardized execution of the safe injection management and practice, effectively prevent the transmission of bloodborne pathogens, and guarantee the safety of patients, healthcare workers and other relevant personnel.
