Abstract:
“Standards for Prevention and Control of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia” is China's first dedicated health care industry standard targeting the prevention and control of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), it was issued on July 30, 2025 and was officially implemented since February 1, 2026. Led by Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, the standard was compiled with the participation of experts in infection control from several authoritative medical institutions. It fully integrates with the latest domestic and international evidence-based medical evidence and clinical practice experience, and systematically standardizes the management requirements, preventive measures, and monitoring procedures for prevention and control of VAP. This paper aims to provide a professional interpretation of the standard's formulation background, core content, and key clauses so as to facilitate the accurate understanding and effective implementation in medical institutions and offer technical support for improving the standardization and homogenization level of VAP prevention and control in China.
