Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the homology of
Burkholderia cepacia from bloodstream infections, so as to better control of nosocomial infections caused by
B.cepacia in a short period of time.
METHODS A total of 15 strains of
B.cepacia from bloodstream infections isolated from the hospital from May 2013 to Jun. 2013 were carried out by the multilocus sequence typing method (MLST), and 7 housekeeping gene fragments of
atpD, gltB, gyrB, recA, lepA, phaC and
trpB were amplified by PCR. The sequencing results were compared with the MLST database to obtain the housekeeping gene numbers and sequence types, and their homology was analyzed.
RESULTS The 7 housekeeping genes in thirteen of fifteen strains were the same. Meanwhile
gyrB housekeeping gene had a new sequence type as a new ST. The 15 strains of
B.cepacia were divided into 3 genotypes, which were ST482, ST608 and a new ST sequence. The 13 strains from the department of neurosurgery had the same ST.
CONCLUSION The bloodstream infection caused by
B.cepacia in a short time is a nosocomial infection outbreak. The 13 strains from the department of neurosurgery had the same ST, and the ST of the 13 strains is not only the same, but also the a new type ST, which is different from the strains of the other two departments. The application of MLST in molecular typing of
B.cepacia shows a high resolution, so it is important to investigate the outbreak of nosocomial bloodstream infections caused by
B.cepacia in the hospital.
