Summary of best evidence for prevention and control of Candida auris hospital-associated infection

  • OBJECTIVE To retrieve and summarize the best evidence for the prevention and control of hospital-associated infection in patients with Candida auris, providing an evidence-based basis for standardized clinical management.
METHODS Systematic searches were conducted in authoritative guideline databases, professional association websites and Chinese and English databases (search period: from the database establishment to Mar. 2025). Two researchers independently performed literature screening, quality assessment and data extraction.
RESULTS A total of 14 articles were included (4 guidelines, 5 expert consensuses and recommendations, 4 systematic reviews and 1 original study). Focusing on seven core themes, including risk factors, hand hygiene protocols, active surveillance strategies, decolonization methods, contact isolation measures, environmental cleaning and disinfection requirements and multidisciplinary collaborative management of personnel training, 27 best practice recommendations were distilled.
CONCLUSIONS This study systematically consolidates the current best evidence for the prevention and control of C. auris hospital-associated infection, offering an evidence-based basis for healthcare workers to develop and implement scientific and effective infection control strategies.
