Interpretation of "Standard for infection control in operating suites" (WS/T 855-2025)

  • "Standard for infection control in operating suites" (WS/T 855-2025) revised over an 18-year period, is based on surveys conducted in 66 hospitals across 12 provinces and municipalities, refer to relevant domestic and international guidelines, takes into account the characteristics and current situations of medical institutions at different levels, and clearly define three key elements: zoning management in operating suites, dynamic environmental control and infection prevention and control throughout the entire surgical process. This paper provides an interpretation from the perspectives of the revision background, formulation principles and core content, with a focus on elucidating the requirements for key aspects such as refined environmental control, full-process infection prevention and control and hygienic monitoring. It offers guidance for medical institutions to precisely implement infection prevention and control in operating suites and standardize clinical practices, thereby facilitating the homogenization of surgical infection management.
